Rules and Etiquette
Use your skills learnt in Taekwondo properly.
Only use actions that you have learnt in self defence.
Never use force that is excessive to your protection and the protection of others.
Uphold the Taekwondo precepts.
Anytime you are wearing a dobok or any Tigers Taekwondo symbol you should act with all the values of the club, you are representing the club and Taekwondo.
In the Dojang:
Bow when you are stepping in and out of the Dojang.
Bow at the start and end of class.
Bow to any instructor or assistant instructor that has instructed you.
Bow to any training partner when you finish training with them or are passing training equipment to one another.
When lining up more senior students stand to the front and right while more junior students stand to the back and left.
Line up in order of rank, then date of grading, then age.
Colour belt teaching assistants stand at the left of the students, if any students in the class are the same rank or higher than them.
Do not play with the equipment when it is not being used in class.
Respect the equipment, do not throw, mistreat or break it.
Do not talk while a teacher is talking. Listen to the demonstration and explanation.
A full uniform (dobok) and your belt (dee) should be brought to every class unless otherwise stated.
A drink bottle should be brought to every class.
Students should make sure that teachers know about all injuries that could effect training before training starts.
Uniform should be neat and belt tied correctly.
When fixing uniform or belt face away from instructors.
Nothing that can catch on another person e.g. watches, necklaces should be worn while training.
No swearing.
No food or drink in the Dojang.
No shoes or socks on while training.
No leaning on the walls.
No hands on hips or crossing your arms.
At Banyule Tigers Dojang:
You must have your membership card scanned before every class by the YMCA staff.
Do not go into other parts of the YMCA other than they foyer, training room or toilets, without permission from an instructor or YMCA staff. This includes the gym, basketball court and any of the upstairs areas.
Keep noise levels to a minimum in the foyer.
Balls are not to be bounced in the foyer area.
Students are not to enter the storage room before or after their class.
At Mountain Tigers Dojang:
Students should not climb on the stage during the class.
